February - May, 2008: Ceramics Outreach Initiative

The Ceramics Outreach Initiative is a great opportunity for area teachers and students to learn more about ceramics and its role in the fine arts. The event is sponsored by the Midwestern Arts & Humanities Foundation in partnership with The Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV, Slippery Rock University, Cera[m!x] Pittsburgh, and Manchester Craftsmen's Guild. The organization is also supported by Ambrosia Enterprises, Heinz Endowments, Lawrence County Commissioners, and Resco Products Inc.

July 7-18: Summer Creative & Performing Arts Academy at SRU

Now in its nineteenth year, the Summer Creative & Performing Arts Academy offers high school students interested in the visual arts, jazz, theatre, and creative writing the opportunity to spend an exciting 12 days on the Slippery Rock Univesity campus. This year, the theme is "Exploring Pop: Inquiries into Popular Culture," and will be used as a focal point of discussions as well as a departure for projects and activities. Participants select one subject area for primary study, and all participants engage in a variety of supporting interdisciplinary experiences. >Download Summer Academy brochure/application.
