May 17, 2010: Teaching Resiliency through the Arts
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Teaching Resiliency through the Arts”, sponsored by the Midwestern Arts and Humanities Foundation, was designed to help participants understand the important role the arts can play in developing resilient responses to crises. Although relevant for everyone who works with children/youth, the workshop was tailored to those who work with at-risk, special needs, and homeless children/youth as well as those who work with military families.
Sponsors: This workshop was sponsored by the Midwestern Arts and Humanities Foundation, the Region 5 Homeless Children’s Initiative, and the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV via support from a Venture Grant from the Grove City United Way. The Foundation received a grant from The Student Philanthropy Project at Grove City College. The parent & community workshop is supported by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency through the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA), its regional arts funding partnership. State government funding for the arts depends upon an annual appropriation by the Pennsylvania General Assembly and from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by the Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance.
